They just turned 10 on November 4th. Last night around 9:30 pm Reeses passed away. We lost Goofie this week, after 8 years. Although he was good friends with Thumby he never really got over losing his friend Muffy last year. So now they are together again in our little cemetery dedicated to our pets. We were so worried about Thumby being lonely and letting herself die that we gave her to the daughter of friends who will give plenty of attention and hopefully she will live another year or two, although she is also getting up there in age.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SUbbZyDdEqI/AAAAAAAACZw/uIGUoVIlp64/s1600-h/thepair.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280148849117958818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 368px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SUbbZyDdEqI/AAAAAAAACZw/uIGUoVIlp64/s400/thepair.jpg" border="0" /></a> our little Goofers again.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SUbbZd2dhVI/AAAAAAAACZo/GfZFfit9p-c/s1600-h/muffy1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280148843694753106" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SUbbZd2dhVI/AAAAAAAACZo/GfZFfit9p-c/s400/muffy1.jpg" border="0" /></a> And little (literally) Thumbalina.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SUbbaDLWPJI/AAAAAAAACZ4/_ozW7cLat4A/s1600-h/thumby.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280148853714467986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 301px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SUbbaDLWPJI/AAAAAAAACZ4/_ozW7cLat4A/s400/thumby.jpg" border="0" /></a> Farewell to another friend, we will miss you and your antics. I would love to know what kind they are as our bird guide does not give a similar picture of them.<br />A few weeks after this was first posted we discovered these are the femals and young male Satin Bower Birds.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SDi8byJnVuI/AAAAAAAABak/RLUVuKg3PUg/s1600-h/b1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204116554931197666" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SDi8byJnVuI/AAAAAAAABak/RLUVuKg3PUg/s400/b1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Same again.<br /><br /><br /><p><a href="http://bp1.blogger.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SDi8cCJnVvI/AAAAAAAABas/dHvXUR0ZbfE/s1600-h/b2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204116559226164978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/SDi8cCJnVvI/AAAAAAAABas/dHvXUR0ZbfE/s400/b2.jpg" border="0" /></a> </p>Things got very noisey yesterday afternoon and when we went out we saw why. There were 2 Wedge-tailed Eagles wandering the skies looking for lunch. That tall tree in the centre of the picture looks like it has 2 bases and meets at the top; actaully it has 3 and does join at the top. It is a strangler fig. These trees grow up around another tree in a vine like pattern and feed off that tree until it is completely strangled and dies. The original tree inside the centre of this one has long since died and we are left with this unusual looking tree. Just above where it joins into one again there is an emmense Elkhorn fern and also several huge Staghorn ferns. </p><div><div><a href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/R8kkvrY22ZI/AAAAAAAAA9o/xOfbxVa7zBo/s1600-h/9.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172706048531159442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_lPXDlv0_iG8/R8kkvrY22ZI/AAAAAAAAA9o/xOfbxVa7zBo/s400/9.jpg" border="0" /></a> Craig took this shot for the colours and lines then when we got it back to the computer we discovered a tiny female fairy wren in the picture.
