Soaring on Eagles wings.

These lovely little birds were out under the Gravillia and lemon tree yesterday, there seems to be a whole family of them. I would love to know what kind they are as our bird guide does not give a similar picture of them.
A few weeks after this was first posted we discovered these are the femals and young male Satin Bower Birds.

Same again.

Things got very noisey yesterday afternoon and when we went out we saw why. There were 2 Wedge-tailed Eagles wandering the skies looking for lunch. Here is one of them.

And now the two together.

Some very brave Magpies decide to get rid og them and start to attack them mid-air. Not that they can do much damage as they are basically just an annoyance to the eagles but the eagels took the hint and left the area.

We just have to walk a few steps to get fresh lemonas and oranges. Here is one of our lemon trees.

Anzac Weekend

With all the rain we have been having the Black Camp Creek has certainly grown. From a trickle to this rushing torrent of water.

Here it is a little further up the field. It could wash away a cow trying to cross it.
Inspite of all that it didn't burst its banks at our little bridge (thank heavens).

Here is the bridge along the Bagnoo Road, under a meter of rushing water. Luckily there is more than one way of getting to our property from this road.
That light brown streak is the "creek".
Same again.

A heron tip-toeing through the wet field.

Wet, wet, wet

A view of one of our paddocks with the horses and donkey as specks in the picture.

One of our many ponds, this one with our ducks and geese. The big white one is Spot (he has a black spot on his head) and Speckles (she has many spots all over) We started out with many geese including Chinese Browns but as the years went by they brats flew away, the ducks know who butters their bread. They stay for the easy pickings since we put 10 kg of seed out there every weekend for them. Isn't this a lovely picture of a Rainbow Lorikeet? The colours stand out so beautifully against the leaves.
And off he goes! Isn't it amazing what a good camera and a lot of patience can do?
And another pops up his head.
Some of the roses we have around the pond at the back of the house.
My favourite picture here.
Lovely colour as they open up.

Our banana trees....but a plantation we are not.
Some white Azalias at the back or the house.
And finally a view of some threatening clouds coming in.....well actually they were there all weekend and boy did it rain! Eveyone especially the frogs were happy about that.

Another Sunday gone and a day at the seaside

Well we finally had a sudden and not so wanted guest in the house. At first I thought it was a really big moth but then found out it was a small bat....oh joy! But Craig caought it without hurting him and after he starred in some of our picks he was sent on his way outside as it was night so he could find some bugs for supper and hopefully his family at the ..........I have to say this.......the Batcave!!!!!! Ha....that felt so good.

Our photogenic wallaby and some silly galahs at the feeder.
Boyo comes in for a feed and to have his picture taken.........after all he is a peacock and therefore a natural showoff.

Craig's step-dad....Super Ted.............................
Craig's Mom Julie and a great mother-in-law to have.
Ted and Julie being....well....goofie.

Another great shot of them.

The HMAS Hobart....permanently moored in Port Macquarie.
Cormorants waiting for lunch to swim by.
Craig and a bronze cast of our first prime minister Sir Edward Barton. Like all politicians....empty headed with hollow words.

A seagull dancing for his dinner.

More gulls looking for the catch of the day.

One of my favourite birds. The Pelican.

A continental trip - Part 3

A very large flag flying proudly over the restaurant where we were going for supper.

A Spitfire at the National air and Space Museum, part of the Smithsonian.
The outside of this great museum.

The space shuttle Enterprise, just breath taking to see close up. Although this particular one never went into space it was the prototype for testing and carried on the back of the 747 which I remember seeing flying over Montreal all those years ago.
Looking down the hall in the museum.
Flags in front of Union Station.

Mount Vernon the home of George Washington.

Most of the above pictures were on the property at Mount Vernon.
There is so much histroy here to discover and never enough time.
