Soaring on Eagles wings.

These lovely little birds were out under the Gravillia and lemon tree yesterday, there seems to be a whole family of them. I would love to know what kind they are as our bird guide does not give a similar picture of them.
A few weeks after this was first posted we discovered these are the femals and young male Satin Bower Birds.

Same again.

Things got very noisey yesterday afternoon and when we went out we saw why. There were 2 Wedge-tailed Eagles wandering the skies looking for lunch. Here is one of them.

And now the two together.

Some very brave Magpies decide to get rid og them and start to attack them mid-air. Not that they can do much damage as they are basically just an annoyance to the eagles but the eagels took the hint and left the area.

We just have to walk a few steps to get fresh lemonas and oranges. Here is one of our lemon trees.

Wet, wet, wet

A view of one of our paddocks with the horses and donkey as specks in the picture.

One of our many ponds, this one with our ducks and geese. The big white one is Spot (he has a black spot on his head) and Speckles (she has many spots all over) We started out with many geese including Chinese Browns but as the years went by they brats flew away, the ducks know who butters their bread. They stay for the easy pickings since we put 10 kg of seed out there every weekend for them. Isn't this a lovely picture of a Rainbow Lorikeet? The colours stand out so beautifully against the leaves.
And off he goes! Isn't it amazing what a good camera and a lot of patience can do?
And another pops up his head.
Some of the roses we have around the pond at the back of the house.
My favourite picture here.
Lovely colour as they open up.

Our banana trees....but a plantation we are not.
Some white Azalias at the back or the house.
And finally a view of some threatening clouds coming in.....well actually they were there all weekend and boy did it rain! Eveyone especially the frogs were happy about that.

Birds, Birds, Birds (and a Lizard)

Here we are back at our Lisarow home and watching the wildlife....or are they watching us?

This little lovely is a female fairy wren, so tiny she can easily fit n the palm of your hand with all your fingers wrapped around her.

Blends in well with the twigs and such doesn't she?
Once again our little Silver Eyes

Even if you can't see them ......they can see you.

Where's Waldo....er I mean the wren?
A yes there you are.

Craig tells me there are birds in the next shots...but I can't find them. Must be some wacky weed he's been into.

Finally another wren.
And to end the weekend....Billy Blue Tongue.

More Frogs

Craig heard the call of the wild last night so went out looking for it. he found it! A small brown frog, Not as cute as the green ones but he does have pretty patterns on his back

And he was ever so accommodating, letting Craig get really close and take his pics. i guess the word is out in frogland and he wants to be a star.

Life is a Journey

As we continue our journey through our farm Craig went ofor a walk-about yesterday and got some great shots such as:

The Black Camp Creek with more water in it than it has seen in at least 5 years. The brown colour is a result of its flowing so fast.

Look very carefully and you can see the water dragon swimming away from the rock at about 11 o'clock (just to the left of the dead branch hanging down).
Wild Lilly Pilly berries:

Same again.
Looking downwards along the path of the creek.
A busy bee collecting nectar from a thistle flower. Great shot eh?
This is one of my favourite place on the farm and it shows both the cruelty and wonder of nature. That tall tree in the centre of the picture looks like it has 2 bases and meets at the top; actaully it has 3 and does join at the top. It is a strangler fig. These trees grow up around another tree in a vine like pattern and feed off that tree until it is completely strangled and dies. The original tree inside the centre of this one has long since died and we are left with this unusual looking tree. Just above where it joins into one again there is an emmense Elkhorn fern and also several huge Staghorn ferns.

Craig took this shot for the colours and lines then when we got it back to the computer we discovered a tiny female fairy wren in the picture. Can you spot her?

This little fellow is very pretty but I could not identify him as yet. As soon as I do I will edit this paragraph with the name. Told you I'd be back.......he is a Red Tailed Finch
